On March 18, 2025, the Turkish World Strategic Research Center organized the "March 18 Çanakkale Victory and Martyrs' Commemoration Program" at the Rectorate Conference Hall of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University (KTMU).
The event was attended by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of KTMU, Prof. Dr. İbrahim Çapak, KTMU Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan,
Deputy Rector Prof. Dr. Almaz Ibraev, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Recai Doğan and Prof. Dr. Kamalbek Karımshakov, Faculty Deans, General Secretary Prof. Dr. İsmet Altıntaş, as well as academicians and students.
The program began with a moment of silence in honor of the Çanakkale martyrs, followed by the recitation of national anthems. In his opening speech, TÜRKSAM President Prof. Dr. Nasuh Uslu emphasized the historical significance of the Çanakkale Victory, stating:
“Today, we must keep alive the faith and determination of the heroes of Çanakkale in every aspect of our lives. Just as they stood shoulder to shoulder against the enemy and defended their homeland, we must also fulfill our duties with the same awareness.”
Deputy Rector Prof. Dr. Almaz Ibraev highlighted that the Çanakkale Victory was not only significant for Turkey and the Turkish people but also a turning point in world history:
“The struggle that took place in Çanakkale exactly 110 years ago was not just a war; it was a great epic that demonstrated a nation's fight for freedom, will, and independence. Historians continue to deeply analyze the meaning and impact of this victory.”
KTMU Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan stressed that the Çanakkale Victory was not merely a military success but also a heroic saga written with the spirit of national unity and solidarity:
“Çanakkale is one of the most significant victories that demonstrated a nation's will to survive and its national consciousness. It is a legendary tale of heroism deeply engraved in the memory of the Turkish nation and commemorated with enthusiasm for generations.” He also shared emotional moments from the struggles that took place in Çanakkale, leaving a strong impression on the audience.
Following this, Chairman of the Board of Trustees Prof. Dr. İbrahim Çapak underlined the importance of remembering the Çanakkale Victory and ensuring that historical epics continue to shape future values:
“If we lose our spirit, we will have no place to stand in life. Knowing the sacrifices of the past is essential for building a strong foundation for our future.” Prof. Dr. Çapak emphasized the importance of passing on the spirit of Çanakkale to future generations and concluded his speech by expressing gratitude to the organizers of this meaningful event.
After the opening speeches, Turkey's only official Çanakkale Wars Collector, Seyit Ahmet Sılay, delivered a presentation titled "Common Misconceptions About the Çanakkale Wars" via video conference. Participants had the opportunity to learn important and lesser-known details about the Çanakkale Wars through this valuable presentation.
The program concluded with poetry readings, songs, and folk tunes performed by Manas University students, reflecting the significance of the day.
