The 2nd Azerbaijan–Türkiye Investment Forum was held in Baku, jointly organized by the Türkiye–Azerbaijan Businesspeople and Industrialists Union (TÜİB) and the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO), with the support of the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Türkiye.
The opening ceremony was attended by Vice President of Türkiye Cevdet Yılmaz and Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov. The forum, hosted at the Heydar Aliyev Center, was also joined by Türkiye’s Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat and AZPROMO Executive Director Yusif Abdullayev.
In his address, Prime Minister Asadov stated that expanding economic and trade relations with Türkiye remains one of Azerbaijan’s key priorities. He recalled that Azerbaijan has invested over USD 20 billion in the Turkish economy, while Turkish investments in Azerbaijan have exceeded USD 18 billion, emphasizing their determination to steadily increase mutual investments.
Referring to ongoing economic reforms, reconstruction efforts in Karabakh, and the development of free trade zones, Asadov invited Turkish business leaders to play a more active role in Azerbaijan’s free economic zones.
Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat highlighted that Türkiye–Azerbaijan relations are currently at their strongest level. He expressed pride in the depth of bilateral ties and Azerbaijan’s achievements, noting that bilateral trade volume has grown from USD 2.6 billion in 2016 to USD 8 billion today. Bolat stressed that the goal is for mutual trade to become the leading component of both countries’ overall trade.
Bolat also underlined Azerbaijan’s strategic role as a key gateway for Türkiye to the Commonwealth of Independent States and the wider Turkic world. He noted that once the Zangezur Corridor is completed, Türkiye will gain faster access to Central Asia and the Far East, while the Middle Corridor passing through Azerbaijan and Türkiye will significantly accelerate global trade flows.
TÜİB Chairman Hüseyin Büyükfırat stated that the forum was not only about investments but also about deepening Türkiye–Azerbaijan relations and strengthening a shared legacy for future generations. Emphasizing the global economic and geopolitical transformation, he highlighted the growing importance of regional transport corridors.
Describing the Zangezur Corridor as the most strategic initiative of the new era, Büyükfırat said that once operational, it will ensure uninterrupted land connectivity across the Turkic world, accelerate trade between Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and Central Asia, and contribute to lasting peace and prosperity in the region.
He also outlined TÜİB’s activities, noting that the organization fosters cooperation among businesspeople, builds bridges between the public and private sectors, facilitates investment projects, and works tirelessly to integrate the two economies.
During the forum, where various investment projects were presented, an agreement was signed for the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) to acquire all shares of the GAMA Energy Central Anatolia Natural Gas Combined Cycle Power Plant.
The forum continued with panel discussions titled “Industry 4.0: Technologies of the Future,” “Agricultural Cooperation: Sustainable Development and Food Security,” “Interregional Trade and Logistics Corridors,” and “Access to Finance and Insurance Mechanisms.”
