According to preliminary figures, cargo turnover between the Baku International Sea Trade Port and the ports of Turkmenistan increased by 34.6% in the first eight months of 2026 compared with the same period last year. This was reported by the press service of Azerbaijan Railways.
According to preliminary figures, during the same period, cargo turnover between the Port of Baku and the ports of Kazakhstan also increased by 6% compared with the same period last year.
In addition, a meeting was held with the participation of the heads of the ports of Aktau, Kuryk, Turkmenbashi, Poti and Batumi as part of a conference on “Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia”, organized with the support of the Baku International Sea Trade Port, a subsidiary of Azerbaijan Railways. The main objective of the meeting was to strengthen cooperation aimed at transforming the Caspian and Black Sea basins into a more efficient, reliable and competitive transport and logistics space.
During the discussions, the participants considered the growing strategic importance of the Middle Corridor, strengthening coordination among ports in the region, accelerating the organization of cargo flows, creating predictable operating conditions, as well as opportunities for joint cooperation. The parties exchanged views on jointly addressing the challenges faced by the ports and developing regional cooperation on an institutional and sustainable basis.
