The 4th Azerbaijan–Turkey Energy Forum was held in Izmir, where new directions and achievements in the development of strategic partnership between the two countries were outlined.

According to Vesti.az, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov stated that the launch of the “Iğdır–Nakhchivan” gas pipeline, TPAO’s participation in the “Shafag-Asiman” project, the start of gas supplies to Syria, the development of “green energy interconnectors,” and agreements on the “Zangezur” corridor will bring Azerbaijan–Turkey energy ties to a new and stronger level.

The minister emphasized that for many years the two countries have not only been partners in the energy sector but also strategic allies shaping the geo-economic space of the region, contributing to peace, stability, and international energy security. He added that the “one nation – two states” principle and the mutual trust between the leaders of Azerbaijan and Turkey have elevated relations to an unprecedented level and become the driving force behind all energy projects.

To date, over 120 billion cubic meters of gas have been exported from Azerbaijan to Turkey, including 35 billion cubic meters via the TANAP pipeline. More than 50 billion cubic meters have been supplied to Europe. In just the first eight months of this year, 6.6 billion cubic meters were delivered to Turkey, while 8.3 billion cubic meters were transported through Turkey to European countries. In addition, Azerbaijan has strengthened Syria’s energy security by supplying 60 million cubic meters of gas.

The forum concluded with the signing of protocols and roundtable discussions with the participation of leading energy companies.
