The 5th meeting of the Energy Working Group between Azerbaijan and Hungary was held online, aimed at strengthening their energy partnership, Vesti.az reported.

The meeting was attended by the co-chairs of the working group: Zaur Mammadov, Head of the Administration of the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan, and Isabella Feierabend, Head of the Department of Energy and Climate Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary.

In his speech, Zaur Mammadov noted that the working group has successfully contributed to the development of cooperation between the two countries, and that, thanks to years of interaction, the energy partnership has acquired a strategic character. He emphasized that cooperation in the oil and gas sector has become a mutually beneficial partnership and highly valued the interaction between Azerbaijani and Hungarian energy companies.

Special attention was paid to Hungary’s participation in the meetings of the Southern Gas Corridor and Green Energy Advisory Councils, its involvement in Baku Energy Week, and its support for Azerbaijan’s initiatives in the framework of preparations for the COP29 conference.

In her remarks, Isabella Feierabend highlighted the successful development of energy cooperation in various areas. She underlined the importance of joint projects and infrastructure opportunities in the oil and gas sector, the necessity of exchanging experience in the fields of “green” energy and regulation, as well as the prospects for expanding cooperation in energy efficiency.

The participants of the meeting heard reports on activities carried out since the 4th meeting of the working group, as well as on cooperation in the areas of oil and gas, renewable energy sources, regulation, and energy efficiency. As a result of the meeting, a Protocol of the 5th Meeting of the Azerbaijan–Hungary Energy Working Group was signed.
