The three-day event was attended by Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Alim Bayel, Member of Parliament from Quba Alibala Maharramzade, representatives of the Azerbaijan State Tourism Agency, civil society members, and 56 tourism companies from both countries.
In his speech, Ambassador Bayel highlighted the increase in tourism traffic between the two countries. Nearly half of the tourists coming to Azerbaijan from Central Asia are from Kazakhstan, which ranks 6th overall after Russia, Turkey, India, Iran, and Georgia. Bayel noted that Baku’s appeal, natural beauty, cultural affinity, and direct flights attract Kazakh tourists.
The ambassador also emphasized that the construction of a modern health tourism complex on the shores of Lake Alakol in Kazakhstan, with investments from Azerbaijan, would mark an important step in bilateral cooperation.
MP Maharramzade stressed the importance of increasing tourism flows not only from Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan but also from Azerbaijan to Kazakhstan. According to him, tourism plays a key role in bringing nations closer together and in learning about each other’s cultures and traditions.
During the forum, presentations by the Azerbaijan State Tourism Agency, Air Astana, and tourism companies were met with great interest. New packages and routes showcasing the natural beauty, cultural heritage, and tourist attractions of both countries were introduced to participants. The event also featured B2B meetings and tours to promote the tourism potential of the Quba region.
