Azerbaijan is one of the main participants of the Middle Corridor and is among the newly emerging global logistics hubs. This was stated in a report published by Allianz Trade (AT).

According to the document, since the start of the war between Russia and Ukraine, the role of the Middle Corridor in trade routes between Asia and Europe has increased significantly. In 2023, the volume of cargo transported through this corridor grew by 86% compared to the previous year, while in 2024, railway cargo passing through Kazakhstan increased by 63%.

The report also emphasizes that investments made by Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Georgia, and Kazakhstan in developing railways, ports, and ferry connections across the Caspian Sea will play a crucial role in the further development of the Middle Corridor. These projects have contributed to revitalizing regional trade and strengthening the European Union’s interest in the route.

Moreover, despite its relatively small economy, Azerbaijan is highlighted as one of the emerging global logistics hubs alongside Oman, Uruguay, and Panama. According to Allianz Trade (AT), investments aimed at modernizing the country’s port and railway infrastructure are reinforcing its role as a strategic bridge between Asia and Europe.
