Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the closing session of the Türkiye–Kazakhstan Business Forum during his official visit to Kazakhstan and stated that economic cooperation between the two countries has reached a new level. During talks with Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the sides discussed several strategic issues and signed 13 agreements.
Erdoğan praised Kazakhstan’s economic growth, noting that the country’s GDP increased by 6.5 percent in 2025, while per capita income approached 15,000 dollars. According to him, Kazakhstan has become the largest economy in Central Asia.
The Turkish president emphasized that trade and economic cooperation between the two countries has significantly expanded in recent years, making Kazakhstan Türkiye’s largest trading partner in the Turkic world. Around 5,500 Turkish companies are currently operating in Kazakhstan, with investments reaching 6 billion dollars. Turkish contractors are implementing more than 500 projects across the country with a total value of 30 billion dollars.
Erdoğan also noted that more than 750 Kazakh companies are operating in Türkiye, with investments nearing 2 billion dollars. He stated that bilateral trade turnover approached 10 billion dollars last year, while the next target is to increase the figure to 15 billion dollars.
The parties also discussed the development of transport links, expansion of transit opportunities, and the introduction of an electronic permit system. Erdoğan said efforts are continuing to develop the Middle Corridor through the Caspian Sea, highlighting the importance of integrating railway infrastructure, ports, and digital customs systems.
The president also praised Kazakhstan’s progress in the field of artificial intelligence and said that digital development and artificial intelligence will be among the key topics at the informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States to be held in the city of Turkistan.
