Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz stated, “With its rich natural resources, young population, and sustainable growth potential, the strategic importance of Turkmenistan is increasing day by day.” Yılmaz attended the meeting of the World Turkish Business Council (DTIK), held in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan.
Speaking at the event, Yılmaz said that relations between Türkiye and Turkmenistan, strengthened by a common language, shared history, and cultural ties, continue to be transformed into concrete cooperation projects and lasting investments thanks to the visionary leadership of the two countries’ presidents.
“With its rich natural resources, young population, and sustainable growth potential, the strategic importance of Turkmenistan is increasing day by day,” Yılmaz said, adding that Türkiye aims to turn this potential into mutual benefits and shared prosperity.
He noted that Türkiye has made approximately $300 million in direct investments in Turkmenistan to date, while Turkish contractors have completed 1,101 projects worth a total of $56 billion.
Emphasizing that the public and private sectors are two inseparable components moving toward the same goals, Yılmaz stated: “Our presidents have set a target of reaching a bilateral trade volume of $5 billion. As of last year, we reached the level of $2.2 billion. Our objective is to quickly achieve the $5 billion target and then continue advancing toward even greater goals.”
Yılmaz also stressed that the meeting, which brought together businesspeople operating in Turkmenistan under the strong platform of DTIK, provides an effective framework for developing joint solutions to common challenges and opening the door to new partnerships.
