Events dedicated to strengthening Uzbek-Turkish friendship and commemorating the symbols of cooperation between the two countries were held in Turkey’s Hatay Province. As part of the ceremonies, facilities within the residential complex located in the “Uzbekiston” neighborhood were given names reflecting the brotherly ties between Uzbekistan and Türkiye.
It should be recalled that following the devastating earthquake that struck Hatay Province in February 2023, Uzbekistan, at the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, was among the first countries to provide humanitarian assistance to the affected regions. By order of the head of state, 24 apartment buildings comprising 306 housing units were constructed in the Arsuz district.
In January of this year, during the official visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Türkiye, the newly built homes were handed over to their owners. Today, residents of the complex express their gratitude for the support and assistance provided in restoring housing after the natural disaster.
The events held on June 13–14 were attended by an Uzbek delegation, members of parliament led by the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, Numan Kurtulmuş, the leadership of Hatay Province and Arsuz District, as well as other official representatives.
During the ceremony, it was announced that various facilities within the complex had been given symbolic names, including Shavkat Mirziyoyev Boulevard, the “Uzbekiston” neighborhood, Tashkent and Samarkand Streets, “Uzbekiston Qardoshlik Parki” (Uzbekistan Brotherhood Park), and Bukhara Mosque.
Members of the Uzbek delegation visited the residential complex and reviewed the facilities and activities carried out there. Cultural programs for the residents of Hatay were also organized, featuring performances by Uzbek artists, traditional Uzbek cuisine, photo exhibitions dedicated to the history and culture of Uzbekistan, and displays of traditional handicrafts. Local residents highly appreciated these initiatives, emphasizing the importance of humanitarian assistance and its contribution to strengthening friendship between Uzbekistan and Türkiye.
