Following the meeting held in Ankara under the co-chairmanship of Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubayev, the two sides signed the 2027–2028 Cooperation Program between the two countries. Fidan also announced that the 2026 Summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) will be hosted by Ankara.

After the seventh meeting of the Türkiye–Kyrgyzstan Joint Strategic Planning Group, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubayev held a joint press conference. During the meeting, the foreign ministries of the two countries signed a Cooperation Program covering the 2027–2028 period.

Preparations for Reciprocal Visits

Kulubayev stated that the parties discussed preparations for the upcoming reciprocal visits of President Sadyr Japarov of the Kyrgyz Republic to Türkiye and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of the Republic of Türkiye to Kyrgyzstan.

Middle Corridor a Strategic Priority

Kulubayev emphasized that the Middle Corridor is one of Kyrgyzstan's most important strategic priorities. He noted that Kyrgyzstan aims to gain access to European and Arab markets through the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway and onward via Türkiye.

Türkiye's Support for Kyrgyzstan's UN Security Council Membership

Kulubayev thanked Türkiye for supporting Kyrgyzstan's election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2027–2028 term. He stated that during its membership Kyrgyzstan intends to serve as a constructive bridge between differing viewpoints while advocating for the interests of mountainous countries and small island developing states on international platforms.

Five Billion Dollar Trade Target

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan congratulated Kyrgyzstan on its election to the UN Security Council, describing it as "a historic achievement." He said that both countries are working toward the goal set by their presidents of increasing bilateral trade volume to USD 5 billion. Fidan also noted that the number of Turkish companies operating in Kyrgyzstan has reached 350.

2026 OTS Summit to Be Held in Ankara

Fidan described the Organization of Turkic States as the concrete embodiment of the common will of the Turkic world and made an important announcement, stating that the 2026 OTS Summit will be hosted in Ankara under the auspices of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
