Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) Kubanychbek Omuraliev called for the establishment of a regional database of “green” projects. Omuraliev made the statement on September 9 at the 2nd Meeting of the Turkic Green Finance Council held in Astana. The information was reported by the OTS Press Service.

Omuraliev noted that the meeting was an important step toward advancing the common commitments of the countries of the Turkic world in the areas of “green” and sustainable finance. Highlighting the progress achieved at the national and regional levels, Omuraliev emphasized the need to transform the Council into an effective year-round mechanism that would contribute to the implementation of priority projects and the achievement of measurable results. Omuraliev also called for the establishment of a regional database of “green” projects aimed at developing practical work programs and building a sustainable, low-carbon future.

The second meeting was held as part of Astana Finance Days, with the participation of representatives of financial regulatory authorities, ministries of economy and finance, and stock exchanges of the OTS member and observer states. The participants discussed expanding regional cooperation in sustainable finance, mobilizing “green” investments, setting measurable targets, expanding the list of “green” projects, sharing data and experience, and integrating capital markets.

Following the meeting, the parties signed a Declaration reaffirming their commitment to sustainable “green” development based on the principles of the Turkic Green Concept and to further developing cooperation in the field of green finance.
