The possibility of establishing a common development bank for the Turkic states is being considered. Such a bank could expand the financial capabilities of the Turkic states and support the implementation of major regional projects.
Kürşad Zorlu, Deputy Chairman of Türkiye’s Justice and Development Party (AK Party), made the statement while attending the Second International Conference of Leading National Think Tanks of the Member States of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), held in Baku.
According to Zorlu, the Turkic Investment Fund continues its activities and has already established a significant budget. As the next step toward strengthening the position of the Turkic world in the global financial system, the establishment of a separate development bank has been proposed.
Kürşad Zorlu said: “In Türkiye, we have completed the preparations for the work that needs to be carried out in this regard. The document we have prepared will be translated into the languages of the Turkic states and submitted to the Secretariat General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).”
According to Zorlu, such a financial institution could not only make use of existing resources but also develop new financing mechanisms. In particular, the proposed bank could provide loans and other financial support instruments to businesses and projects related to the development of the Middle Corridor.
Kürşad Zorlu also addressed the issue of a common Turkic alphabet. According to him, Uzbekistan has begun the process of introducing changes aimed at moving closer to the proposed common Turkic alphabet consisting of 34 letters. He added that Türkiye views the Middle Corridor not merely as a transportation route but as a platform aimed at creating broader economic opportunities.
