Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who is in the United States to attend the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, delivered important messages regarding the future of the region at a meeting of the Türkiye–US Business Council held at the Turkish House in New York.
President Erdoğan emphasized the importance of ensuring lasting peace and ending conflicts in the region, noting that five major geopolitical and economic transformations would accelerate following this process.
5 Major Changes to Accelerate as a Result of Regional Stability
Speaking at the meeting, President Erdoğan highlighted Türkiye’s strategic importance and its capabilities in key sectors, identifying the following areas of expected change:
- Restructuring of supply chains: A transition toward a new structure in global trade flows will begin, with greater emphasis on security and resilience.
- Restructuring of energy routes: Based on projects implemented from the Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan oil pipeline to TANAP, Türkiye’s position as a reliable corridor ensuring uninterrupted energy flows will be strengthened.
- Transformation of trade corridors: The Middle Corridor, connecting Asia with Europe, and the Development Road, linking the Persian Gulf with Europe, will strategically intersect in Türkiye.
- Reconstruction period: Roads, ports and energy facilities across the region will be reconstructed. Türkiye’s experience in the construction sector under challenging geographical conditions and difficult terrain will provide an important advantage in this process.
- Defense and high technologies: A strong defense industry that fully complies with NATO standards has the capacity to make a direct contribution to the supply security of allied countries.
