President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, while greeting participants at the 12th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States held in Gabala, Azerbaijan, expressed his pleasure at being in Gabala — a city that bears traces of the deep-rooted Turkic history.
Erdoğan thanked Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov for his contributions during Kyrgyzstan’s term presidency of the organization, and expressed gratitude to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for his hospitality, wishing him great success in his upcoming term as chair.
"Türkiye is taking the first step toward a common alphabet"
Erdoğan said he welcomed the agreement signed in March on determining the border junction point between Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. “I congratulate Mr. Mirziyoyev and Mr. Japarov, who have resolved this issue — which has long occupied the agenda — with wisdom and prudence. I also extend my congratulations to the Tajik leadership,” he said.
The President emphasized that they are aware of their potential to contribute to the stability of the region through economic growth, social welfare, and strengthened cultural ties, and that initiatives in transport, energy security, and trade integration complement this approach.
He stated that focusing on projects and investments that enhance energy and communication connectivity would benefit everyone, underlining the need to make the Trans-Caspian Middle Corridor more efficient.
Erdoğan pointed out that Turkic states must establish strong cooperation and carry out joint investments with high added value in order to reach their rightful place in the fields of science and technology as soon as possible.
“To keep up with global developments in artificial intelligence and preserve our cultural richness, we must accelerate the development of the ‘Turkish Large Language Model.’ As Türkiye, we are taking the first step toward a common alphabet by publishing a work about Chinghiz Aitmatov and the Oghuznamas in a shared alphabet. Today, we are presenting one copy of these works to each leader,” Erdoğan said.
