Energy diplomacy between Kazakhstan and Türkiye has reached a new stage following a high-level meeting held in Ankara. The Chairman of KazMunayGas (KMG), Askhat Khasenov, and Türkiye’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, agreed to deepen the strategic partnership between the two brotherly countries in the oil and gas sector.

The main focus of the meeting was cooperation between Kazakhstan’s national company KMG and Türkiye Petrolleri Anonim Ortaklığı (TPAO). It was noted that field operations are planned to begin within geological exploration projects carried out in the territories of both countries. Through this partnership, concrete steps will be taken toward the discovery of new reserves and the transfer of advanced technologies.

Technology and Experience Sharing

During the meeting, KMG Chairman Khasenov emphasized that the projects to be implemented with Turkish partners would not be limited solely to energy production, but would also offer significant opportunities for training technical personnel and introducing innovative practices in the sector. The parties agreed to continue this energy cooperation in a systematic manner, in line with the interests of both countries, as it is expected to contribute to the economic development of Kazakhstan and Türkiye.
