The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, has signed a decree approving the nationwide “Digital Qazaqstan” Strategy, which aims to achieve large-scale digitalization of the country and the widespread adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies across all sectors by 2029. The announcement was reported by the business information center Kapital.kz.

According to the report, the strategy is designed to drive a deep digital transformation of the country and promote the extensive integration of AI into various sectors of the economy. Earlier, Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov stated at a government meeting that a draft of the new strategy had been prepared. According to him, the document was developed based on instructions from President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and outlines the key directions for the long-term development of the sector.

The Prime Minister noted that the strategy would enable more effective coordination of efforts in the fields of digitalization and artificial intelligence. He also emphasized the need to pay special attention to the digital transformation of the national economy during the Year of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence announced by the Head of State. It should be noted that in November 2025, the President of Kazakhstan signed a law on artificial intelligence. The new strategy is aimed at implementing the provisions of that law and accelerating the country’s digital development.
