The number of domestic tourists in Kazakhstan has reached 3.5 million people, Kapital.kz business information center reports with reference to the press service of the Tourism Industry Committee.
According to official statistics, 3 million 431 thousand Kazakhstanis traveled within the country from January to June 2024. The number of domestic tourists increased by 349 thousand people compared to the same period last year (3 million 082 thousand in 2023). The cities of Almaty, Astana and Shymkent became leaders among domestic tourist destinations, attracting 51% of all domestic tourists.
And there was also an increase in the number of tourists in 14 regions of Kazakhstan compared to the first half of last year. “We see a stable growth in domestic tourism, which is confirmed by official statistics. In 2024, about 3.5 million tourists visited various regions of the country in half a year.
This result was possible due to our focused work on improving tourism infrastructure and services. We will continue to make efforts for further growth of tourism,” said Nurtas Karipbayev, Chairman of the Tourism Industry Committee of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
