Aktau Airport seeks to build the Aircraft Technical Maintenance and Repair Center to service aircraft from Russia and Central Asian nations, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.
Aktau Airport is among promising multimodal aviation hubs, taking into account its access to all transport modes and proximity to Europe – a mere three hours of flying. In addition to an air cargo hub, Turkish Technic and ASFAT companies seek to construct the Aircraft Technical Maintenance and Repair Center and training centers within the territory of the airport, said Kazakh Transport Minister Marat Karabayev.
According to him, the Center is to service aviation and military aircraft from Kazakhstan, Russia and the CA countries. As a result of these measures, the airport’s cargo carrying capacity is set to rise to up to 200,000 tons per year, while its yearly turnover will be at 520 billion tenge, added the Kazakh minister.
Karabayev highlighted that Kazakhstan is to establish a single operator to address the shortage of jet fuel, the country is forced to import from the neighboring countries.
This will lead to removal of inefficient intermediaries, stabilization of supplies and affordable prices for jet fuel for transit flights via Kazakhstan through purchases in large volumes. Earlier it was reported that YDA Holding seeks to expand investment activities in Kazakhstan.
