Masdar to build a 1 GW wind farm in Zhambyl region Yerbol Karashukeyev,  Akim of the Zhambyl region, met with representatives of Masdar to discuss a project to construct a 1 GW wind power plant. The project includes an energy storage system and has an estimated cost of 742 billion KZT, according to the press service of the Zhambyl Region.

Yernur Zhienbayev, project manager, reported that geotechnical work is currently underway at the wind farm site. Construction of this major renewable energy facility is scheduled to begin next year.

Yernur Zhienbayev also highlighted the company's plans to expand its presence in the region and implement new investment projects in the green energy sector.

Yerbol Karashukeyev emphasized the importance of collaboration with local universities to train qualified specialists from the local population. The Akim expressed confidence that the project would significantly contribute to strengthening the country's energy security.

The renewable energy sector in the Zhambyl region is developing rapidly, supported by a favorable investment climate and government initiatives. Currently, the region is home to 22 renewable energy facilities with a total capacity of 571.3 MW.
