A new agro-industrial complex is set to be launched in the city of Astana with the participation of Turkey’s “Tiryaki Agro” holding and Qatar’s “Hassad Food” company. This will be the country’s first facility focused on deep processing of grains and legumes for industrial production, according to the press service of Kazakhstan’s Investment Committee.

According to the report, the complex will be constructed in the Baykonyr district of the capital. The total investment is estimated at approximately $320 million. The construction of the plant is expected to create over 500 jobs. Once operational, the facility will be capable of processing 250,000 tons of wheat and 80,000 tons of legumes annually. The processed output will include wheat and legume starch, gluten, lysine, animal feed, legume protein, and other components.

The products will be supplied not only to the domestic market but also exported to CIS countries, the European Union, Turkey, North America, and Southeast Asia.

Chairman of the Investment Committee, Gabidulla Ospanqulov, stated: “This project is an example of what Kazakhstan’s agro-industrial sector should look like. The newly built plant will be high-tech and export-oriented. We have long aimed to move away from a raw-materials-based economic model. This agreement, formed with the participation of major investors from Turkey and Qatar, confirms that Kazakhstan is becoming a hub for significant industrial initiatives. The Investment Committee and the national company ‘Kazakh Invest’ will provide comprehensive support at all stages of the project—from administrative procedures to accessing foreign markets.”

“Tiryaki Agro” is one of the largest agricultural holdings in Turkey. The company exports agricultural products to 55 countries around the world. Its annual turnover exceeds $2.5 billion, and its sales volume is over 4 million tons. In 2019, it ranked 64th among Turkey’s largest private companies in the Fortune 500 list.
