Kazakhstan is proposing to Azerbaijan the implementation of joint projects in the pharmaceutical and tourism sectors.According to “Report” agency, this was reported with reference to the press service of Kazakhstan’s Embassy in Baku.
The topic was discussed during a meeting between Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov and Kazakhstan’s Ambassador Alim Bayel. During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the current state and future prospects of bilateral cooperation in trade, economy, investment, transport-logistics, energy, and construction sectors.
It was noted that trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan increased by 20% during the January–April period of this year.
At the meeting, it was also stated that in 2025 Kazakhstan will become the main supplier of wheat to Azerbaijan, providing 88% of Azerbaijan's imported grain products.
Mikayil Jabbarov emphasized that the development of economic cooperation with Kazakhstan is of strategic importance for Azerbaijan.
In this context, the minister highly valued the implementation of major joint projects such as the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, laying of a fiber-optic communication line under the Caspian Sea, transit of Kazakhstan’s energy resources through Azerbaijan, and the construction of an electric cable along the seabed of the Caspian. Additionally, the Kazakh ambassador proposed joint production of infusion solutions in Kazakhstan and the construction of a resort and sanatorium complex for Azerbaijan on the shores of Lake Ala-Kol.
The parties also discussed expanding the activities of construction companies involved in the construction of residential and social facilities. It was noted that some Kazakh companies have already started building medical facilities and residential buildings in Azerbaijan. Opportunities for cooperation in this field within Kazakhstan are also being explored.
