Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan aim to expand cooperation in the fields of “green energy,” nuclear energy, and digital technologies. This was announced by Kazakhstan’s Minister of Transport and Co-Chair of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation between the two countries, Nurlan Sauranbayev, during the 21st meeting held in Baku, Vesti.az reported.
Highlighting the importance of regional interaction in “green energy” transportation, the minister said: “Of particular significance is the trilateral agreement on green energy signed by the presidents of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan in Baku in November 2024. We are also ready to cooperate in the peaceful use of nuclear energy.”
According to Sauranbayev, the modern economy is closely linked with digital technologies, and Kazakhstan is ready to develop joint IT projects with Azerbaijan. “We are ready to work with our brotherly Azerbaijan to establish artificial intelligence research centers. This is not only about technology exchange but also about building a trusted digital environment,” he emphasized.
Sauranbayev also praised Azerbaijan’s leadership in climate diplomacy and highlighted the importance of the COP29 conference held in Baku: “We support international principles of human development and climate resilience and are ready to jointly implement green energy projects in the Caspian Sea basin,” he said.
The Kazakh transport minister also emphasized the strategic significance of the Middle Corridor:
“All efforts must be directed toward further developing the transport corridor and enhancing its efficiency. Signing an intergovernmental document will be an important step. In this context, the Zangezur Corridor project holds special importance. Kazakhstan supports this initiative and considers it an essential element in creating a stable and unified transport architecture,” the minister noted.
