The second meeting of the High Intergovernmental Council between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan was held under the chairmanship of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Ilham Aliyev. The agenda included issues of cooperation in transportation, logistics, digitalization, the fuel and energy sector, as well as cultural and humanitarian interaction. This was reported by the Akorda press service.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated: “This Council serves as an effective platform for developing agreed decisions in all areas of bilateral cooperation. Azerbaijan is a special country for Kazakhstan — a brotherly nation. We are united by common historical roots, rich spiritual and cultural heritage, similar mentality, and worldview. On this solid foundation, we are successfully developing our multifaceted cooperation. Ilham Heydar oglu, I attach special importance to your state visit. The fact that your visit coincides with the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on Strategic Partnership and Alliance between our countries has a symbolic meaning. Over these years, we have established an active political dialogue and built a legal framework aimed at the steady development of trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian cooperation. Such comprehensive and consistent efforts are fully supported by the citizens of both countries,” he emphasized.

He also noted that the current high level of Kazakhstan–Azerbaijan relations is largely due to the personal contribution of President Ilham Aliyev.

At the end of the meeting, the presidents signed a Joint Declaration dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on Strategic Partnership and Alliance between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. Within the framework of the Azerbaijani President’s state visit to Kazakhstan, 15 cooperation documents were signed in the fields of energy, transport and logistics, digitalization and artificial intelligence, industrial safety, healthcare and statistics, and cultural-humanitarian relations.
