Hungary has announced its readiness to increase the capital of the “Hungary–Kyrgyzstan” Development Fund to USD 45 million in order to support Hungarian companies operating in Kyrgyzstan. This was stated by Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Economic Relations and Foreign Affairs, Péter Szijjártó, during a meeting with Daniyar Amangeldiev, First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, held within the framework of the Kyrgyz delegation’s working visit to Hungary.
During the talks, the parties reviewed the results of the Kyrgyzstan–Hungary strategic partnership for 2025. It was noted that both sides are committed to further expanding Kyrgyzstan–Hungary cooperation in 2026. It was emphasized that cooperation in 2025 was constructive in nature, encompassing high-level contacts as well as meetings between bilateral government bodies.
The parties paid particular attention to the activities of the “Hungary–Kyrgyzstan” Development Fund, describing it as one of the key instruments for implementing joint projects across various sectors of the economy. According to Péter Szijjártó, increasing the Fund’s capital to USD 45 million will strengthen support for the business activities of Hungarian companies operating in Kyrgyzstan and will facilitate the implementation of joint projects.
In addition, progress in cultural and humanitarian cooperation was highlighted. It was reported that each year up to 200 students from Kyrgyzstan continue their studies at higher education institutions in Hungary under the “Stipendium Hungaricum” program.
