On February 10, 2026, President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan received the Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh (Parliament) of the Kyrgyz Republic, Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu. During the meeting, which took place within the framework of Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu’s official visit to Türkiye, the parties discussed the development of bilateral relations and key aspects of deepening cooperation, according to the press service of the Jogorku Kenesh.

Turgunbek uulu conveyed greetings from the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Japarov, to President Erdoğan and emphasized that the close relations between the leaders of the two countries serve as a solid foundation for strengthening partnership between the brotherly nations. He noted that the state visit of the President of Türkiye to Kyrgyzstan in 2024 was a historic event that opened a new chapter in strategic relations.

“Kyrgyzstan is interested in the active and consistent development of cooperation in all areas. For its part, the Kyrgyz Parliament is ready to provide support and assistance for the successful implementation of the agreements reached,” said the Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh.

Turgunbek uulu added that one of the priority directions of Kyrgyzstan’s foreign policy is strengthening ties among all Turkic-speaking states. “We cooperate closely on international platforms such as the Organization of Turkic States and TURKPA. Last year, Kyrgyzstan chaired the Organization of Turkic States, and this year the next meeting of TURKPA is expected to be held in Bishkek. We hope that the parliament of our brotherly Uzbekistan will also join our ranks,” he said.

Turgunbek uulu emphasized that this visit to Türkiye is his first official visit since being elected Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh. “This is a symbolic event demonstrating the closeness of our peoples. Today, we held talks with the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, Numan Kurtulmuş, exchanged views on current issues, and agreed on many plans to strengthen Kyrgyz–Turkish cooperation,” he noted.

He also presented his proposals for developing trade and economic relations and asked the President of Türkiye to pay special attention to such joint projects and provide them with political support.

For his part, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that he is well informed about the activities of the Kyrgyz Parliament and Speaker Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu. He expressed confidence that this official visit would give strong impetus to further deepening cooperation. President Erdoğan also emphasized that Türkiye attaches special importance to brotherly, friendly, and strategic partnership relations with Kyrgyzstan and reaffirmed his interest in and support for the development of the brotherly country.
