Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision, Akylbek Toktobaev, met with a delegation led by Nail Yıldırım, CEO of MTA International Mining Inc. (MTAIC) of Türkiye. During the meeting, the parties discussed the implementation of joint projects for the exploration of rare earth elements and strategically important minerals.

According to the ministry, the meeting was aimed at further strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the mining sector. The sides agreed to carry out scientific research projects on rare earth elements and conduct geological exploration activities jointly.

Special attention was also given to the use of modern technologies in mineral extraction, beneficiation and advanced processing, as well as the exchange of expertise and the training of specialists. The cooperation framework envisages organizing internship programs for Kyrgyz professionals and enhancing scientific ties between the relevant institutions of both countries.

The meeting follows agreements reached at the International Forum on Strategic Minerals held in Istanbul in April 2026. During the forum, Akylbek Toktobaev held talks with Türkiye’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar.

The minister had previously noted that Kyrgyzstan is introducing international standards for the publication of geological data, emphasizing that these measures will help increase the confidence of foreign investors and promote greater transparency in the management of mineral resources.
