A capsule laying ceremony was held in Kok-Moinok village, Issyk-Kul district, marking the beginning of construction of the first wind farm in Kyrgyzstan.
The project will be implemented by the Russian company Rosatom Renewable Energy JSC. According to Kyrgyz Energy Minister Taalaibek Ibraev, the cost of the project is estimated at $120 million.
It is known that wind measurements in the area began in March 2024. The first delivery of equipment is expected in the first quarter of 2025. By the third quarter of the same year, design work is expected to be completed. And after that, in 2026, the full-scale commissioning of the facility is planned.
The area of the future wind farm will reach 200 hectares. The installed capacity is estimated at 100 MW. The planned annual output will be 280 GWh per year. The planned output for 25 years of operation will total 7 thousand GWh.
It is known that after the facility is put into operation, the roads built within the project can be used by local residents. In addition, the territory of the wind farm can be used for agriculture and cattle breeding.
