As part of his official visit to Bishkek, the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (TBMM), Numan Kurtulmuş, held a meeting with the Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu. Following their bilateral meeting, the two sides also led negotiations between their respective delegations.
The Existence of the Turkic World Plays an Important Role in Ensuring Global Peace
During the meeting, Numan Kurtulmuş expressed his deep gratitude for the hospitality extended by the Kyrgyz Republic and noted that visiting the historical homeland — Kyrgyzstan — together with a representative delegation on behalf of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye was a great honor for him. He emphasized that the visit aims to further strengthen the friendly relations between Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Türkiye and President Sadyr Japarov of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Speaking about the importance of unity within the Turkic world in light of recent global developments, Numan Kurtulmuş stated: "I would like to especially emphasize that new opportunities are opening up both for the Turkic world and for the world as a whole. The Turkic world, stretching from Central Asia to Anatolia and further into Europe, with a population of about 300 million people, is becoming a new bright star. Thanks to its young population, rich natural resources, and strategic location, the Turkic world is gaining particular significance in the emerging new multipolar world. We must use this opportunity wisely and effectively. The strengthening and development of the Turkic world across this vast area represent an important opportunity for ensuring global peace," he stressed.
Cooperation between Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan in the Field of Education Will Deepen
Expressing gratitude to Kyrgyzstan for its sincere support of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) and the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TÜRKPA), Numan Kurtulmuş emphasized the importance of these two organizations and the need for their further development.
Noting that relations between Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan are successfully developing in all areas, Kurtulmuş drew attention to the need to make full use of all available opportunities to achieve the goal of increasing bilateral trade turnover to 5 billion dollars.
As an example of specific cooperation in the field of education between the two countries, Kurtulmuş mentioned the Kyrgyz-Turkish University "Manas," emphasizing that thanks to thousands of graduates, this university makes a significant contribution to the development of Kyrgyzstan and Central Asian countries.
He also expressed satisfaction with the transfer of the "SAPAT" educational institutions to the management of the Turkish "Maarif" Foundation and noted that cooperation between the two countries in the field of education will continue to deepen both through the "Manas" University and through the activities of the "Maarif" Foundation.
Furthermore, Numan Kurtulmuş requested support for the establishment of a representation of the Yunus Emre Institute in Kyrgyzstan, expressing confidence that its activities will further strengthen the ties between the peoples of the two countries.

The Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu, expressed his gratitude to the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (TBMM), Numan Kurtulmuş, for his official visit to Kyrgyzstan. He specifically noted that Mr. Kurtulmuş’s visit to Kyrgyzstan ten years ago as Deputy Prime Minister made a significant contribution to the development of bilateral relations between the two countries.
Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu expressed confidence that today's meeting would contribute to the further strengthening of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, particularly parliamentary ties. He also emphasized the importance of cooperation between Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan in the areas of education, healthcare, and defense.
He noted that after the transfer of the "SAPAT" educational institutions to the Turkish "Maarif" Foundation, educational activities have continued smoothly, and the Kyrgyz-Turkish State Hospital of Friendship named after Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Bishkek is one of the key healthcare projects, expressing gratitude to the Turkish side.
The Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh also emphasized that active steps are being taken to achieve the goal of increasing bilateral trade turnover to 5 billion dollars, as set by the presidents of the two countries, and that work in this direction must continue.
Protocol on Cooperation Signed
The Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, Numan Kurtulmuş, and the Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu, signed a Protocol on Cooperation between the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye and the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic. After the signing, Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu gave Numan Kurtulmuş and the Turkish delegation a tour of the Jogorku Kenesh plenary hall.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the parliaments of Kyrgyzstan and Türkiye, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Türkiye to Kyrgyzstan, Mehmet Mustafa Kemal Ökem, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Türkiye, Ruslan Kazakbaev, as well as other deputies.
