On May 21, 2025, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Japarov, paid an official working visit to Budapest, where he held a meeting with the Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orbán. During the meeting, the parties discussed the priority areas of Kyrgyz-Hungarian cooperation and expressed their readiness to expand economic partnership.

Viktor Orbán emphasized the importance of strong partnership in the development of relations between the two countries and praised the reforms being implemented in Kyrgyzstan. He also highlighted Kyrgyzstan's contribution to strengthening its economic position in the Central Asian region. In addition, the Prime Minister gave a positive assessment of the activities of the "Hungary-Kyrgyzstan" Development Fund and reaffirmed Hungary’s interest in investing in strategic projects in Kyrgyzstan.

President Sadyr Japarov stated that the trade turnover between the two countries had doubled over the past five years and expressed gratitude to the Hungarian side for its decision to increase the fund's charter capital to 50 million USD. According to him, this decision opens up new opportunities for the implementation of joint projects. He also expressed Kyrgyzstan’s hope for Hungary’s active participation in infrastructure projects aimed at developing transport corridors between Europe and Central Asia.

The President of Kyrgyzstan expressed interest in exchanging experience and technologies in the field of logistics with Hungary and stressed that the Kyrgyz government is fully committed to supporting and protecting the interests of foreign investors.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to further strengthen their strategic partnership and continue cooperation in key sectors of the economy.
