The state enterprises of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, “Kyrgyzaeronavigatsiya” and “Kazaeronavigatsiya”, signed an agreement to open a new air corridor along the Almaty–Karakol route via the Santash Pass. This was reported by the state company “Kyrgyzaeronavigatsiya.”
According to Kyrgyzaeronavigatsiya’s statement, the route has been prepared in compliance with the requirements of modern global aviation and the RNAV-5 navigation specification. This ensures both the safety and efficiency of flights under mountainous conditions.
The new air route serves as the revival of a line that had been in operation during the 1970s. Before its official launch, a joint ground test and flight trial was carried out using a Beechcraft King Air 360 aircraft, and its compliance with international standards was confirmed.
The new air route will contribute not only to transportation but also to the development of tourism. In the summer, it will facilitate access to Issyk-Kul and the mountainous areas, while in the winter, it will provide easier access to the Karakol ski resorts. This new air corridor is an important element of the region’s aviation infrastructure and will give additional momentum to cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.
