Investments from Ankara to Kyrgyzstan exceeded 1.4 billion dollars

During Kyrgyzstan’s years of independence, the total amount of investments from Turkey has exceeded 1.4 billion dollars. This was announced at an event in Bishkek attended by Turkey’s Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, Mekin Mustafa Kemal Ökem.

Kyrgyz economist and expert Iskender Sharsheev told Vesti.kg news agency: “It is difficult to assess the exact amount of investments because inflation has risen sharply over the past 20 years. In absolute terms, the figure may differ. We have official data from the National Statistics Committee, the World Bank, and other organizations,” he said.

He emphasized that Turkey’s brotherly support has always been felt in Kyrgyzstan:
“Turkey was the first country to congratulate Kyrgyzstan on its independence. It was among the first to open educational institutions offering international-level education. From these schools emerged a new generation that contributes to our country’s development. We received investment, education, and technology from Turkey. Turkish entrepreneurs were the first to bring the hypermarket trend to our country. It’s impossible to underestimate this contribution,” he noted.

The future of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Turkey also looks optimistic. “Within the framework of the ‘Turan’ project, a corridor is being established to unite countries with historical, cultural, and other common ties. Therefore, economic cooperation will continue. Moreover, Turkey sold us unmanned aerial vehicles, which strengthened our security. This alone demonstrates Turkey’s warm attitude toward us,” he added.
