At the meeting of the Intergovernmental Council held in Kazakhstan’s capital Astana, the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Adylbek Kasymaliev, presented data on the dynamics of bilateral trade. He also highlighted the projects that Kyrgyzstan proposes to implement jointly with Kazakhstan. This was reported by the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers.

In the first half of 2025, Kazakhstan invested 64 million dollars in direct investment into the Kyrgyz economy.
Kasymaliev noted that the two countries have opportunities to expand cooperation in trade, industrial cooperation, energy, and the agro-industrial sector. Among the main proposals of the Kyrgyz side are the creation of an industrial trade-logistics complex in the border zone and the construction of a wholesale distribution and storage center for agricultural products in Kazakhstan’s Almaty region. According to him, these projects will ensure stable supplies and strengthen cooperation in the agricultural sector.
He also stated that the reconstruction of the “Kichi-Kapka — Besagash,” “Ak-Tilek — Karasu,” and “Karkyra — Kegen” checkpoints has been completed, and that the “Lower Chui — Ak-Suu” checkpoint has resumed operations. Improvements in infrastructure will accelerate the exchange of goods and increase the efficiency of logistics.
At the end of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their intention to increase trade turnover to 3 billion dollars by 2030. Earlier, the Kazakhstan government had reported that in the first eight months of the year, trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan reached 1.4 billion dollars, an increase of 21%.
