On January 9, 2026, the Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan, Laziz Kudratov, held a working meeting with Yusuf Tuğrul Arıkan, General Director of the Turkish company Anadolu Isuzu.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and future prospects of bilateral cooperation, the implementation of investment projects, modernization of production capacities, localization, and technology transfer. Particular attention was paid to the phased development of the Samarkand Automobile Plant, 75.2% of whose shares were acquired by a Turkish investor in December 2025. Plans were discussed to launch the production of new types of agricultural machinery and special-purpose vehicles, as well as to increase production volumes. It was noted that the manufactured vehicles would be supplied not only to the domestic market of Uzbekistan but also exported to other countries. At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties emphasized their mutual interest in further strengthening strategic partnership and expanding cooperation in the automotive sector.
It should be recalled that in December 2025, the State Assets Management Agency of Uzbekistan announced the completion of a transaction for the sale of the state-owned 75.2% stake in the Samarkand Automobile Plant (SamAuto) to the Turkish company Anadolu Isuzu.
