Uzbekistan’s Minister of Defense, Shukhrat Khalmukhamedov, and Türkiye’s Minister of National Defense, Yaşar Güler, signed a military cooperation agreement for 2026 in Ankara, according to the press service of the Uzbek defense ministry.

During meetings held both in a narrow format and with full delegations, the sides discussed regional security, development of the defense industry, personnel training, and coordination between the armed forces of the two countries.

The 2026 cooperation plan includes joint military exercises, exchange of experience, and the development of military medicine. The agreements also cover improving the qualifications of military doctors, studying the management of military hospitals and military medical technologies, as well as conducting training programs and sharing practical experience. The Uzbek defense minister noted that Türkiye’s experience would contribute to modernizing the army and strengthening its capabilities. In turn, Yaşar Güler stated that relations with Uzbekistan are reaching the level of strategic partnership.
