On January 29 of this year, a working meeting was held between the Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan and Minister of Economy and Finance, Jamshid Kochkarov, and the founder of Turkey’s leading company Limak, Sezai Bayaksız.

During the talks, the prospects for implementing investment projects in Uzbekistan were discussed, particularly opportunities in the development of energy and transport infrastructure. Special attention was paid to the construction of hydroelectric power plants under public-private partnership (PPP) arrangements, as well as to the possibilities of jointly developing the necessary project documentation. It was noted that Limak has successfully constructed ten hydroelectric power plants in Turkey, and that this experience could be effectively applied in Uzbekistan.

In addition, the parties discussed prospective projects involving Limak’s participation in the modernization and management of one of the country’s international airports. The company’s significant experience in operating airports under public-private partnership frameworks in Kuwait, Senegal, and Kosovo was particularly emphasized.

During the meeting, Limak’s global-scale operations were also highlighted. It was stated that the company’s annual turnover amounts to USD 4.1 billion, that it ranks first in the construction sector in Turkey, and that it is among the world’s top twenty largest companies.

At the conclusion of the talks, the parties expressed their readiness to expand mutually beneficial cooperation, continue practical negotiations on specific projects, and develop a long-term partnership between Uzbekistan and Limak.
