In February 2026, Uzbekistan set a record for electricity generation from renewable green energy sources. The combined output of solar and wind power plants reached 815 million kilowatt-hours, which is 203% higher than in the same period of 2025.
According to the Podrobno.uz news service, this sharp increase was driven by the commissioning of new wind and solar power plants as well as improved efficiency of existing facilities. Across the country, wind power plants took the leading position in green energy generation. Wind farms produced 444 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, while solar photovoltaic power plants generated 371 million kilowatt-hours.
By comparison, a year earlier the total electricity production from renewable energy sources across the country amounted to 401 million kilowatt-hours. At that time, wind power plants generated almost three times less electricity. Experts note that the growing share of renewable energy helps reduce the load on thermal power plants and decrease natural gas consumption.
