Dr. Mirvokhid Azimov, Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, delivered a speech at the “Launch of Strategic Cooperation in Tourism between Uzbekistan and Türkiye” held in Istanbul on April 15, 2026.
The event, organized with the support of the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Uzbekistan and relevant stakeholders, focused on enhancing tourism cooperation between the two countries—particularly within the framework of the “Umrah Plus” program—and exploring new opportunities.
In his speech, Dr. Azimov emphasized that tourism is becoming an increasingly important strategic area of cooperation that strengthens economic integration, cultural rapprochement, and people-to-people interaction among Turkic States. He also provided information on ongoing activities and flagship projects in the tourism sector within the Organization, highlighting joint tourism initiatives, the promotion of the Turkic Silk Road, and the Tabarruk Ziyarat project. The event concluded with the signing of a protocol aimed at further advancing tourism cooperation between relevant stakeholders in Türkiye and Uzbekistan.
