Talks aimed at strengthening cooperation between Turkey and Uzbekistan in tourism, religious, and cultural fields were held in Ankara. The meetings were organized within the framework of the long-standing strategic partnership between the two countries.
A delegation headed by Muzaffar Kamilov, Head of the Department for Religious Affairs and Education of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan and Rector of the International Islamic Academy, visited Turkey.
During the visit, the delegation met with officials of the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The talks were attended by the Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, the head of the Uzbek delegation Muzaffar Kamilov, and Deputy Chairman of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan Zayniddin Eshonkulov.
The parties emphasized that relations between the two countries are based on mutual trust and noted that in recent years, thanks to the political support of Presidents Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Shavkat Mirziyoyev, cooperation has reached a new level.
Special attention was given to the development of the waqf system during the talks. The delegations exchanged information on charitable activities in Uzbekistan and the development of tourism infrastructure. The activities of the “Vaqf” public charity foundation and the Social Protection Agency were also highlighted, emphasizing their contribution to social support and public cohesion.
In addition, the parties discussed the development of pilgrimage tourism, reforms in this sector, and prospects for expanding cooperation. The link between pilgrimage tourism and waqf property, as well as the importance of jointly developing these areas, was also underlined. As a result of the meetings, a number of proposals were put forward to promote the tourism potential of both countries and expand cooperation in the tourism sector.
