President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on May 13 with Rovshan Najaf, President of SOCAR, as well as representatives of BP Ariel Flores and Giovanni Cristofoli. The delegation arrived in Tashkent to participate in the “Energy Week Uzbekistan – 2026” forum.

During the meeting, the parties discussed expanding international cooperation in Uzbekistan’s energy sector. Special attention was given to the development of joint projects with SOCAR and BP, which are among the world’s leading oil, gas, and energy companies.

The talks noted that SOCAR, as a partner of Uzbekistan, is participating in oil production operations at the Ustyurt field, and that the company has decided to open a representative office in Uzbekistan. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev highly praised BP’s participation in the Ustyurt project and emphasized the importance of further developing cooperation in the exploration, production, and deep processing of hydrocarbon resources. In addition, the parties discussed long-term supplies of oil and petroleum products, as well as the training of qualified specialists for the oil and gas sector.
