A 300 MW solar photovoltaic power plant and a 150 MW energy storage system have been commissioned in the Nurata district of Uzbekistan’s Navoi Region, according to the Press Service of the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan.
The total cost of the project amounted to $390 million. It was implemented in cooperation with China Energy Overseas Investment. The project has created 30 permanent jobs. The solar power plant is expected to generate 657 million kWh of electricity annually. According to the project developers, this amount is sufficient to cover the annual electricity consumption of approximately 273,000 households.
The facility is expected to save around 175 million cubic meters of natural gas annually. In addition, the implementation of the project is expected to prevent the emission of 377,000 tons of pollutants into the atmosphere. The project combines solar power generation with an energy storage system, helping to increase the flexibility and reliability of energy supply while using renewable energy sources.
