Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan have launched 10 investment projects with a total value of $389 million. The statement was made by Jasurbek Choriev, Secretary General of the Permanent Secretariat of the TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission.

According to Choriev, the projects were launched during Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Uzbekistan on August 23–24. At the time of the interview, Choriev was serving as Deputy Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan.

One of the projects involves the establishment of a network of filling stations by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR). In the first stage, five filling stations are planned to be opened in Namangan, Jizzakh, Samarkand, Syrdarya and Tashkent regions.

In addition, construction of the “Azerbaijan” Park, covering an area of 4 hectares, has begun in the New Tashkent area. According to Choriev, the projects being implemented demonstrate the expanding economic cooperation between the two countries.

The investments cover energy infrastructure as well as other areas of bilateral cooperation.
