The “Central Asian Natural Gas Ring” project, which aims to integrate the natural gas transmission systems of five countries into a single network, will be discussed at the Second Central Asia Oil and Gas Forum, to be held in Tashkent on October 15–16. The large-scale project, which will also involve Turkmenistan, is expected to open a new chapter in the region’s energy security.

What Does the “Central Asian Natural Gas Ring” Project Entail?

The project envisages the creation of an integrated natural gas transmission network covering Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. It aims to fundamentally transform the region’s energy infrastructure. The key technical aspects of the project are as follows:

Infrastructure Development: Construction of new pipelines with a total length of more than 3,000 kilometers and modernization and upgrading of existing natural gas pipelines.

Supply Security: Integration of natural gas transmission systems will enable more efficient balancing of seasonal energy supply and enhance the security of gas supplies to the countries of the region.

Investment Volume Reaches $10 Billion

The idea, initially presented as the “Gas Ring” at the first forum in October 2025, has been revised in terms of its budget. The initial investment volume, originally estimated at $4–5 billion, is now calculated at $10 billion, including related social initiatives.
