Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan have formed a working group to increase trade turnover to $2 billion, Kyrgyz Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Bakyt Torobaev and Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev agreed at a meeting in Tashkent. During the talks, the parties discussed areas of work to achieve this goal, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture reported.

The goal of increasing trade turnover to $2 billion was announced in July 2024 during Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov's visit to Uzbekistan, where he and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev agreed to further expand economic cooperation.

Torobaev also met with Uzbek Agriculture Minister Ibrohim Abdurakhmonov to discuss exports of Kyrgyz agricultural products, including milk, honey, fish, corn, potatoes and meat products. Kyrgyz potatoes are already being sold freely in the markets of Andijan, Karshi and Fergana, and negotiations are ongoing for the export of other products in larger volumes.
