The large-scale project of an innovative pharmaceutical cluster is underway in Tashkent Region. On December 18, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the facility to review the progress of construction works that began in 2020, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.

The cluster consists of a 20-hectare technology park with research infrastructure and a 190-hectare industrial zone. The newly built administrative centre houses the key divisions of the pharmaceutical cluster, including the Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency and a business incubator.

21 projects worth $818 million are being implemented in the industrial zone through investments from 6 countries. The logistics centre worth $40 million started operating, and it is planned to launch another 20 projects worth $620 million.

An important element of the cluster will be the Pharmaceutical Technical University with modern laboratories and infrastructure for professional training under international programmes. The project will create 8,000 jobs and support the growth of Uzbekistan’s pharmaceutical industry.
