On March 15, 2025, the Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan, Laziz Kudratov, held talks with the Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan, Arman Shakkaliev.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the implementation of bilateral agreements and further steps to deepen trade, economic, and investment cooperation.
Laziz Kudratov emphasized the significance of opening the pavilion for Kazakhstani products at the International Trade Center in Termez, which took place as part of Arman Shakkaliev's visit to Uzbekistan. He expressed confidence in the successful operation of the pavilion and high interest from Afghan businesses.
Stable development of mutual trade was noted. In 2024, the trade volume between the two countries reached $4.3 billion, with an increase in the export of food products, textile goods, non-ferrous metals, chemicals, and plastic products. The parties confirmed their readiness to implement a range of measures aimed at increasing trade volumes, eliminating barriers, and improving conditions for product supplies.
Investment cooperation is also expanding. In Uzbekistan, there are 1,042 enterprises with Kazakh capital, operating in trade, IT services, construction, finance and insurance, as well as real estate operations. In Kazakhstan, more than 4,500 companies with Uzbek capital are active. An agreement was reached on the development of mechanisms to support entrepreneurs on a mutual basis.
As a result of the meeting, a Program to increase trade turnover between the two countries to $10 billion by 2030 was signed, and a schedule for mutual visits of the heads of regions of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan in 2025 was approved.
