On April 26, a telephone conversation took place between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.
During the conversation, the parties thoroughly discussed issues related to the further strengthening of Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations of friendship, strategic partnership, and alliance. Special attention was paid to the practical implementation of agreements reached during the state visit of the President of Azerbaijan to Uzbekistan in August 2024.
The positive outcomes of the Year of Economic Cooperation were noted with satisfaction. Since the beginning of the current year, the volume of mutual trade has increased by 20 percent. Joint projects are actively being implemented in the fields of automobile manufacturing, textile and electrical industries, energy, agriculture, tourism, and other sectors.
A rich program of cultural and humanitarian exchange is being successfully carried out, contributing to the strengthening of friendly ties between the peoples of the two countries.
The leaders emphasized the importance of thorough preparation for high-level events scheduled for 2025, including the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, regional and university rector forums, as well as major cultural events.
During the conversation, the parties also exchanged views on pressing issues of the regional agenda. They discussed the schedule of upcoming multilateral events, including meetings within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States.
