Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev met in Baku to discuss bilateral cooperation, announcing that the portfolio of joint projects between the two countries has reached $4 billion.
The two leaders emphasized the strengthening of strategic partnership and expanding cooperation in industries such as energy, transport, agriculture, tourism, and banking. President Mirziyoyev highlighted that bilateral relations have reached an unprecedented high level.
During the meeting, both sides agreed to increase the annual trade turnover and investment volume to $1 billion. Currently, around 300 joint ventures operate in both Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.
Transport cooperation and the development of the Middle Corridor were also key discussion points. Uzbekistan's freight transit along this route has increased by 25%, surpassing 1 million tons. From March 2025, the two countries have introduced electronic permits for cargo transportation.
Plans for exporting Uzbekistan’s electricity to Europe and holding cultural events to mark the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations were also discussed. The parties adopted a “Road Map” to ensure the timely and effective implementation of the agreements.
