Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Kazakhstan, Bakhtiyor Ibragimov, met with Askhat Khasenov, Chairman of the Board of Kazakhstan’s national company “KazMunayGas,” to discuss the deepening of cooperation in the extraction and processing of hydrocarbon resources.

This was reported by Uzbekistan’s “Dunyo” news agency. The meeting focused primarily on the development of the petrochemical industry. In particular, the sides considered establishing joint production in Uzbekistan’s Kashkadarya region and preparing project documentation.

The parties also exchanged views on ensuring energy security, as well as on strengthening cooperation in the extraction and processing of hydrocarbons. Specifically, they discussed the procedure for conducting joint geological exploration, information sharing, and coordination in border areas.

It was noted that both sides are ready to jointly explore promising oil and gas fields in Uzbekistan. An agreement was reached to maintain an ongoing working dialogue in this direction.
Khasenov and Ibragimov also discussed creating added value in polymer production, as well as implementing projects in the automotive industry, agriculture, textiles, and other sectors.
