Chairwoman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, Tanzila Narbayeva, held a meeting with a delegation of the Hungarian Parliament, led by Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary, István Jakab.

During the meeting, it was noted that in recent years, relations between Uzbekistan and Hungary have reached a new level, developing on the basis of strategic partnership and mutual trust.

The parties discussed opportunities for further expanding trade and economic cooperation, as well as deepening interaction in agriculture, automotive industry, construction, science, education, innovation, and tourism.

Particular attention was paid to the development of the transport and logistics system, the implementation of joint initiatives in agriculture, the increase of investment cooperation, and the growth of mutual trade turnover. The possibility of launching direct air flights between the two countries was also discussed.

The parties emphasized the importance of supporting initiatives to develop partnerships between scientific institutions, and of exchanging experience among professors, teachers, and young researchers. It was stated that strengthening inter-parliamentary relations is one of the priorities, while regular dialogue and delegation exchanges would help reinforce mutual trust and contribute to the sustainable development of bilateral relations.

The delegations expressed their interest in exchanging experience in the legislative field, participating in joint projects, and making dialogue between parliamentarians more meaningful.

As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to revitalize the activities of inter-parliamentary friendship groups in order to further strengthen cooperation between the parliaments of Uzbekistan and Hungary.
